Accordingly, is our mission to undertake various projects in the field of Education, Health, Forestry, Horticulture, Social Welfare, Housing, Art and Culture, Ethnic Tourism and Emergency Relief to the critically ill patient of the area to improve the quality of people’s life.
In brief, our vision is to do anything leaving aside the mission projected to alleviate the sufferings of the people to the best of our capacity by reaching to the Community and State at large.
Dhar block comprises about 80 Panchayats with a population of 1.20 Lakhs as per the 2011 census. The whole area is the sub-mountainous track, and it is surrounded by the state of HP on one side, and J&K on another side. The area falling in the block is purely rural and the most backward part of the Punjab state. There is no industry or Tourist Growth centre or any infrastructure project except Ranjit Sagar Dam, and people are left to their fate to live. The agriculture is rainfed as there is no irrigation facility. Though the area has vast potential for tourism, adventure games, water sports, luxury tourism to date, no govt or private aided project has been launched except a private-sector enterprise. Road connectivity to villages is poorly maintained. People are deprived of good basic needs such as quality schools and hospitals. Farmers of the area owning land along the Ranjit Sagar Lake cannot use dam water for their bonafide drinking and irrigation requirements. This all encouraged a group of people from different walk of life to join hand to create a Charitable Trust named as Jagriti Foundation.

To give a boost to socio-economic development in term of income augmentation, health and social welfare of poor people residing in Dhar Block of Pathankot District and to uplift the living standard of the people, the Trustees have resolved to work in a Trust to bring in a visible change to the life of people
At the same time, Trust would showcase the area as a role model for entire Punjab and the other States of India, with the following Visions in mind:
Trust would endeavour to make all-around socio-economic development in the target area, by improving public health, human health, education, social welfare and upgrading the forest ecosystem with the aid and cooperation of the donors, Govt and community as far as possible.
Trust would work in various missions viz. Education, Housing for the Poor, Horticulture, Reforestation, Health and Social welfare to improve the living standard of the people.
Jagriti Ashram Project: Tourism may be the primary source of livelihood for the people of the area in the next decade if the area is to prosper. We will try to introduce a village model of tourism by establishing Jagriti Ashram on the lines of the famous “Gandhi Ashram” of Kausani located near Almora in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand which will revive the Indian traditions. We would try to establish it as a joint venture on revenue sharing under the Private-Public Partnership (PPP) model.
Trust has adopted a village Darban for its overall development where Jagriti Ashram will be established and efforts would be made to make it the cleanest village of Punjab with the help of community participation and Govt support. The adopted village would be developed on the model of village Mawlynnong which is known as the cleanest village in Asia. Despite it being a small remote village located about 100 km away from Shillong in Meghalaya State in the North-East part of India, the village is a star tourist attraction of world fame all with the initiative of residents. Our target would be to identify the adopted village as Mawlynnong of North India as a role model for others.
