The picturesque village of Gatla in Nurpur witnessed a significant event on the 5th of November, 2023, as the Jagriti Community Centre was officially inaugurated. The ceremony was graced by prominent dignitaries, including Sh. Kuldeep Singh Pathania, the Honorable Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, and Sh. Ajay Mahajan, Ex. MLA of Nurpur, who served as the Guest of Honour.
The inauguration ceremony was a moment of pride for the community, with the presence of Sh. Gur Simar Singh, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Nurpur, and the Superintendent of Police (SP) Nurpur. Their participation added grandeur to this remarkable event.
The festivities commenced with the inaugural ceremony and were followed by an exciting Kabaddi Tournament featuring talented U-14 players. The spirit of sportsmanship and competition filled the air, bringing joy to the spectators.
During the event, the prestigious Jagriti-Surjit Mahajan Running Trophy for Volleyball Tournament was announced. A generous sum of ₹21,000 was declared as the prize for the winning team by Mr. Sunny Mahajan, the Director of Partap World School. This announcement further fueled the enthusiasm of aspiring volleyball players in the region.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the series of announcements made by the Honorable Speaker, Sh. Kuldeep Singh Pathania. He declared a contribution of ₹2.5 lakh from his MLA fund to support the 2nd phase of development for the Jagriti Sports Park, signifying his commitment to the betterment of sports infrastructure in the area.
Additionally, Sh. Pathania conveyed a pivotal development by disclosing that, under the government’s scheme to assist NGOs, 75% of the funds would be provided by the government, while only 25% would be allocated by the NGO upon approval of the project. This initiative is poised to empower local NGOs and foster community development.
In a heartwarming gesture, Sh. Kuldeep Singh Pathania graciously accepted an invitation to become the Patron of the Jagriti Foundation Charitable Trust, underscoring his dedication to philanthropy and community service.
The inauguration of the Jagriti Community Centre and the associated announcements by Sh. Kuldeep Singh Pathania have left an indelible mark on Gatla Village and Nurpur.
