DARBAN VILLAGE FOREST MISSION (VAN MAHOTSAV) PROJECT 2020

As enshrined in our constitution, Forest Mission is an important component of our Trust. Last year we planned 550 plants on July 28, 2019, on the eve of the birth centenary of Guru Nanak dev ji in collaboration with NIFFA NGO of Karnal, Haryana. This year in 2020 we will be organizing Forest Mission Project in and around Darban village in collaboration and support of the Forest department Punjab. We plan to get the target area reforested with the help of the honorable Conservator of Hoshiarpur Mr.Mahavir Singh IFS and his team of Forest officers of the Pathankot.

Launch of the Forestation scheme would be planned in July 2020 or early August 2020 for which our main Guest of eminence would be Mahavir Singh conservator of Forests Punjab. Launch date when confirmed would be duly notified. Under the scheme, we would try to get thousands of plants would be planted.

The salient feature of the scheme planned are as follows:

  • Under the scheme, a small modest Launch function would be held at Village Darban with the help of Village Panchayat led by Sarpanch of the village.
  • An 11- or 21-member village committee of the Darban consisting of the youth and other committed persons would be constituted to oversee its enforcement and would be a permanent body for coordinating other projects of our Model Village Project for which we have selected Darban.
  • Plants as economically usable and flowering Trees would be planted in and around Darban up to Atal Satu Bridge that is the landmark of the whole of the Dhar.
  • Jagriti would arrange for at least 50 Bamboo Tree Guards which would be painted green for the protection of the trees near the village School area.
  • The approximate cost of Tree Guards to Jagriti would be around Rs. 18000.
  • Jagriti would try to plan tree plantation in a cluster or Grooves also for which a fence arrangement would be made at its cost with a cap of Rs 10000 only. So total tentative cost would only be made up to Rs 28000 as a limit.
  • Jagriti would request the forest Department to plant all trees free of cost under the Greening Work Plan and Jagriti Volunteer would try to protect the planted trees.
  • All members of the Trust are requested to put forward the suggestion if any for the implementation of the Forest Mission.
  • This would be the launch of the First Model village Project of the Jagriti in the village.

I trust and hope the cooperation of the friends and Trustees to participate in the project as possible under the emergent situation of COVID-19 that is prevailing in our country.
