Honourable Sir,

At the onset, I congratulate you on your great announcement to use your Salary for the education of the poor farmers’ Daughters in Punjab which appeared in the newspapers on April 17, 2022. It is the noblest gesture and speaks of your good intention to work for the needy people of Punjab even at the cost of your salary while working as a Member of Parliament. It is the sign of your inner urge to help people as possible.
In this regard, I want to tender our request on behalf of a charitable Trust working in the most backward area of Punjab which needs your attention. Our brief about our Foundation and our Requests derails are printed herewith for your preview.

About Jagriti Foundation Charitable Trust

I may bring to your kind notice that Jagriti Foundation Charitable Trust is a registered NGO working for the holistic development of the Dhar area which is admitted to be the most backward area of Punjab. The trust is a multidimensional body that started its work for the area in the year April 2019. The Trust Board is consisting of 11 learned citizens of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and is headed by myself RPS Walia former SDM/ADC of Pathankot and Dhar Kalan as Managing Trustee. Sir after retirement I divide my time between Chandigarh and Toronto and continue to serve the people of Dhar Kalan being my karma bhumi all 365 days. I am also working as a lawyer for the NRIs and writer of a Book titled “Legal guide for NRIs”.

Jagriti Foundation has been granted Charitable institution status by Income Tax dept and also benefits of Section 80 G of the Income Tax Act 1961 and has also been awarded World Record in one Day Blood Donation along with NIFAA an NGO of national level by Book of World records London in the year 2021-22.

The trust has a very prominent citizen of prominence headed by Justice Rajeve Bhalla ji, a Former High Court judge as Chief Patron and Sardar SJS Pall IRS Former Chief Commissioner of Income Tax as Patron to guide the trust as needed.

Jagrit Foundation activities:
Sir, we are running several welfare projects all around the year with the help of our team and volunteers. We have adopted the village Darban near Atal Setu Bridge which falls in the proximity of Ranjit Sagar Lake todevelop it asa model village.

Jagriti Foundation works under all service missions in the area mainly Education, Health, Housing, Horticulture and Promotion of Tourism for the overall development of the area for the last three years.
About Education Mission:
Sir I will like to dwell only on our Education mission under which we are trying to update one Government Primary School in the village of Darban by updating its infrastructure.

We have adopted Guru Nanak Dev Univerity College at village Niari, Dhar Kalan which is the only college in this pure rural belt and is run by Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar as its constituent college. We have been imparting scholarships or fee reimbursement to the needy students of farmers for the last two years and we have helped 39 students so far. We will again help the students in the year 2022-23 for which the foundation will offer Scholarships for about 1.25 lakhs to the needy students.

Jagiti Foundation Request :
Jagriti would request you, Sir, to sponsor fellowships for a few girls students from the farmer family of the area who are studying at University College Niari as a promotion to the cause of Girl’s Education. I assure you that you would love working for these lesser fortunate students who urgently need the support of great people like you. Jagriti foundation will like to work as per your conditions/model and the College administration will support our initiative. Incidentally, College Principal Dr BS Mnhas is the Project Director of our education Mission.

In the end, I will assure you that our Trust is a 100% per cent Legal body and everything including accounts are above board and audited.
